London, October 2nd 2008 --
IKON Office Solutions, a leading provider of document technology and services ‘stole the show’ and raised over £4000 for charity by running as superheroes in London’s Bloomberg Square Mile Relay on Thursday 25th September, at London’s Guildhall.

Two of the 95 running teams from businesses across the city were entered by IKON. An ‘A team’ of youthful, faster runners ran for their chosen charities, while IKON’s UK and Europe Board of Directors team ran as superheroes to raise money for cancer charity Teens Unite.
For many of IKON’s Directors this was the first time they'd put on trainers and hit the tarmac, so running a mile flat out, even for fun, was a major challenge! But the IKON Superheroes captivated crowds and commentators from start to finish, as the only ten runners out of 950, who turned up in costume!
By the time Marketing Director, Gary Downey aka ‘Wonder Woman’ ran the last leg he was the only runner left on the course which he says, made the experience even more amazing: “The whole Relay couldn't have been better for the IKON teams and Teens Unite. We got a tremendous reception and the atmosphere, music and commentators inspired every one of our runners to a personal best.”
Event organisers were thrilled with IKON’s performance and Teens Unite has also published a gallery of superhero action shots on their website at www.teensunitefightingcancer.org! More pictures are also available from IKON Communications Manager, Deborah Hatch.
