How well is your organisation controlling document costs?
The reality is that most organisations are not in control of document-related expenses. Independent research and IKON experience confirm most companies have:
- Little understanding of the document-related hardware within their organisation
- No accurate data regarding total print, copy, fax and outsourced document volumes
- Little knowledge of user practices and associated costs
- No real understanding of the most appropriate technology to address their needs
- Difficulty managing paper and electronic documents effectively
- No formal document strategy

IKON's Document Strategy Assessment (DSA) is a modular series of assessment service offerings focused on cost remediation and productivity improvements relative to document output devices and process improvements relating to the document lifecycle.
1. Document Output Strategy Assessment
2. Document Lifecycle Strategy Assessment
1. Document Output Strategy Assessment
An IKON Document Output Strategy Assessment takes a snapshot of document output from local or networked devices (printers, copiers, fax) via user workstations and/or file servers. This print activity data is then analysed in conjunction with your business objectives to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and productivity.
During an assessment, IKON uses tracking software to monitor and record associated costs by user, device, job, page, document name, file type, day and time. Analysing this activity allows IKON to help customers identify equipment, control usage, define realistic costing models and determine the best way to leverage technology to streamline workflow.
With a thorough understanding of your documents, page volumes and operating costs (cost per page), IKON can help you make informed decisions on new technology acquisitions, equipment replacement strategies and additional application support. The bottom line is a reduction in document production expenses and improved employee productivity.

2. Document Lifecycle Strategy Assessment
IKON can help you gain control of your expenses by performing a Document Lifecycle Strategy Assessment. This assessment captures data on the costs associated with documents through all phases of their lifecycles — from initial input and capture through archival and retrieval. IKON uses the document lifecycle as a common structure to collect and analyse information, and then render cost-benefit recommendations that help reduce costs by improving workflow, increasing efficiency and enhancing productivity.

An IKON Document Strategy Assessment should be your first step toward developing a comprehensive and on-going strategy for managing all document activity within your organisation.
